Our Programs:

Our goals are two-fold:

1. To support veterans in their journeys to freedom from the impacts of their service

2. To free mustangs from federal holding and get them ready for adoption to forever homes

1. Freedom Found for Veterans

Our veterans program is offered at no cost to selected participants.  It includes all of the services needed to match the veteran with their mustang, provide training and oversight during their journey. and engagement with other veterans and ranch hands to learn the care and maintenance of ranch operations.

This deep engagement with a wild, strong mustang who shares many of the same characteristics of hypervigilance, reactivity, and damage from their experiences has proven to reach a level of healing not found in many typical therapies.  The testimonials from participants are amazing and include deeply personal stories of recovery from PTS, substance abuse and even suicidality.

2. From a Number to a Name

Due to tremendous overpopulation in collapsing habitats, wild mustangs are captured by Bureau of Land Managment (BLM) and held in storage facilities until they can become adopted.  There are tens of thousands of mustangs currently held; and our goal is to help them find the freedom in a forever home where they can benefit a new owner. Each mustang is marked with a unique 'freeze mark number' and a tag is hung around their neck.  Once a veteran has gentled their rmustang enough to remove that tag, they give the horse a name..  It's a big moment on the journey to adoption.

Mustangs have proven to be strong, intelligent, adaptive and very good partners for humans in many equine disciplines from simple trail riding to very advanced show and competition settings.

Enjoying Ranch Life

Once in the program, Miracles participants find themselves immersed in life at Rose Hill Ranch.  This is a low-key, welcoming environment where everyone can relax and enjoy simple, authentic working values.  As the Minteers open their ranch to participants, they ask that all respect their private residence and show respect and kindness to the children, pets, and horses.  Cookouts and group dinners add to the social life in the program; and trail rides are an added bonus for those who have horse riding skills and are approved to participate.
