At Mustang Miracles, we believe in the healing power of pairing war veterans with wild mustangs. Through shared learning, building bonds and developing trusted connections, both become liberated and free to live fuller, more rewarding lives.

About

Located at Rose Hill Ranch in the heart of NY's Finger Lakes district, Mustang Miracles offers a unique healing experience for veterans suffering from PTS and related service injuries, and a safe, caring pathway to freedom for mustangs that have been held in government facilities since being removed from their range out West.  This work is free to participants through the generosity of private donors.  The results are amazing!

The Program

Our main program pairs veterans with their own wild, previously untouched mustang under the supervision of professional trainers.  The goal is to build mutual trust and confidence that translates to freedom for both.  Participants are immersed in nature and ranch life as they work with their horses. The mustangs receive top quality care and handling until they are ready to be adopted to "forever homes".

Donate

Our work is funded entirely by private donors in order to make the program available at no cost to participants.  Every donation helps to cover the cost of care for our mustang herd and ensures safe, high impact training for all.  Join us by sponsoring a veteran OR by covering the cost of our herd.  This includes transport, veterinary, farrier, and dental, feed, tack and equipment.  Every single contribution helps to keep this work going

Join Us

We are always looking for veterans who may fit the program.  Please contact us if you are interested.

We are also open to volunteers who love horses and want to work on a real ranch.  Depending on your experience we will find roles working in daily chores, horse care, and little projects.

Lueretta & Journey

Lueretta is a retired Army veteran who has been actively building her horsemanship skills at both the EquiCenter in Rush Ny and at Mustang Miracles.  Since joining the program in August, Lueretta has become the primary trainer for Journey, a mustang who has not had anyone working her for several months.  Their progress together is great, as Lueretta has built a strong bond already and Journey responds with trust.

Luna's Journey

Luna came to us last Fall as a 4 year old mare from Northeastern Nevada.  She was planned to participate with Emma in the Mustang Magic Makeover when selected at Fort Worth, TX in September; but shortly afterward we realized she is blind in her right eye; and this made her a better fit for our Heroes Herd.  She is amazingly sweet and adaptive mare who now participates in the veterans program and is a quick and willing learner. From WILD to mild, she has also bonded with KitKat our rescued barn cat.

Facilities Projects

One of the beneficial elements of the program is that participants are able to become more active in ranch life. This past spring our volunteer participants accomplished a lot of upgrade projects around the ranch, including racks for equipment storage, saddle racks and some basic spring cleaning.  All of these build camraderie and a sense of accomplishment.
